Recent SOMAA News:SOMAA to host Reception:SOMAA will be hosting a reception immediately following the UW Symphony Orchestra Concert on Friday, February 10 in the Mills Hall Lobby. NO RSVP needed - we'll have name tags for members to help identify yourself.
The UW-Madison Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of James Smith, presents its annual concerto and composition competition winners at 8:00 p.m. in Mills Concert Hall. Five students were selected as winners in this year’s competition. Four will perform as soloists with the orchestra: Alice Bartsch, violin; Michael Roemer, baritone; Jeongmin Lee, piano; and Brett Walter, percussion. In the separate category for composition, Youn-Jae Ok won for “Mi-Ryen,” which will be premiered by the orchestra on this same program. SOMAA Mentoring:On Wednesday February 22, 2012 a group of SOMAA members and 10 current UW music students will meet to begin a mentorship program. The goal of the program is help current students make connections in the music world as well as to realize the many different ways a music degree can be utiilzed.

The mission of the UW-Madison School of Music Alumni Association (SOMAA) is to support and strengthen the educational effectiveness of the School of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and to maintain a close spirit of cooperation and communication between the alumni and the School of Music.
Vision
The vision of SOMAA is to contribute to the lifelong musical and collegial benefits of students and alumni of the School of Music, and society as a whole. It will maximize its impact in accordance with School of Music goals and objectives.

Membership
We invite all graduates, former students, and faculty members of the UW-Madison School of Music and all individuals who wish to support the School's mission. Membership dues are $40.00 per year, with a life membership available for $500.00. The membership year runs from January to December. Click here to join today!
